The Significance of Animals

You are here: Home / Blog / The Significance of Animals

December 10, 2020 //  by Helena Livingston

As you enter this website, you might be wondering why there are so many photos of animals and nature? So few of people, especially when the work I do is with organisations and people.

Who was here first? Them or us? We certainly co-existed for quite some time. Then humankind got hungry and started hunting. And now we dominate. Right or wrong? Not a judgement I am making right now, nor intend to get dragged into, but what I do think is important to say is that animals play an important role on the planet and form part of a complex web. Today, that web is facing challenges on a worldwide level. There is more and more pressure to lead a more sustainable life, to contribute towards causes, that ironically, we humans have created in the first place. There is resistance and there are those who lean in. The fact of the matter is that we need a critical mass to lean in before the scale can tip back in favour of what came before us, what sustains us.
